What studying in the Nordics actually costs a Japanese student, first year, honest numbers.

You will read online that Nordic universities are tuition-free. For EU citizens, mostly true. As a Japanese applicant you are a non-EU student: tuition applies in Denmark, Sweden and Finland, at most Norwegian institutions since 2023, and Iceland has authorised fees from Autumn 2027 (amounts not yet published). Budgeting on the EU numbers is the single most common planning mistake we see.
